The Inheritors - What To Expect and What Not??

As we all know, the pilot episode of The Inheritors will be airing on the 9th of October 2013. This drama is really anticipated by all the K-Drama fans since it's gathers all the first class current popular stars such as Lee Min Ho, Park Shin Hye, Kim Woo Bin, Choi Jin Hyuk and others.

The storyline of this drama depicts around the friendships and love lives of young and rich heirs.  A Gossip Girl-esque trendy drama set in a high school populated by the privileged and uber-rich.

Lee Min Ho has been given the responsibility to lead the drama as Kim Tan, The heir of the Empire Group. He is arrogant and self-centered however he is overshadowed by his older half-brother, Kim Won. He falls in love with Cha Eun-sang despite her poor background.  (Sound familiar???)

Since I am a fanatically fan of Lee Min Ho, I will try to analyse this drama from his prospect.

What can we really expect from this drama after all? How does it differs from Lee Min Ho's previous dramas??

First, from Boys Over Flowers..
The story line - rich, young chaebol who fell in love with Cha Eun Sang, a poor background girl...doesn't this refers as the same as Boys Over Flowers? Gu Jun Pyo, F4 group's leader, who is a spoiled heir to world-leading conglomerate Shinhwa fells in love with Geum Jan Di who is an ordinary girl whose family owns a dry cleaning store.

I can match one similarity here..

Another point that we can expect is The evil mother-in-law. Though the character of Kim Tan's mother, Kim Sung-ryung as Han Ki-ae has not been exposed yet, but we can expect it to be the same characteristic of Gu Jun Pyo's evil mom, Kang Hee-soo (aka President Kang) and President of Shinhwa Group. She vehemently opposes her son's relationship with Geum Jan-di and does everything in her power to stop them. Kim Tan's mother character is more likely to be repeated as in Boys Over Flowers..

Third, the love triangle..in Boys Over Flowers, Jan Di had her first crush on Ji Ho played by Kim Hyun Jung. While in The Inheritors, Kim Woo Bin's character is a genius chaebol. He has a 150 IQ and is the heir to a hotel conglomerate, and he’ll be giving Lee Min-ho a run for his money when it comes to making Park Shin-hye swoon. We shall expect the rival and thugs between these 2 chaebol in winning Cha Eun Sang's heart.

What interest me most is the relationship of Hyung (Kim Won - Choi Jin Hyuk) and Dongseng (Kim Tan) in The Inheritors. The relationship between their characters appear contentious despite being brothers. These situations can't be related to any of Lee Min Ho's previous drama, however, in Boys Over Flowers' Gu Jun Pyo is very close to his noona, Gu Jun Hee.

When Kim Tan’s father, the chairman of Jeguk Group was taken ill, Tan’s half-brother, Kim Won took over his place naturally. Kim Tan’s mother always told him he had to beat his brother but, in secret, he liked his brother, who was cool, mature and manly.

When Kim Tan left to study overseas, his brother told him coldly, “Don’t think about things too much, just have fun. Eat well, sleep well and if possible, don’t come back.” That moment he realized that he was actually being exiled. His half-brother was taking back from him things that his mother had taken from him.

The highlight of this drama would evolves around how Kim Tan would overcome his charismatic hyung in trying to take over the Jeguk Empire.

Huh!! I bet the would be no crime fighting, no shooting, no bloody killer, no avenge towards corrupted ministers likewise in City Hunter. Probably we cannot expect any fighting scene from Min Ho, awhh..miss that a lot..I like to watch him fight though.. since in this drama Kim Tan is a university student. Watching the teaser, there is a scene that the 2 main lead are running from thugs, but not as serious as in City Hunter I guess!!

This is another point that we can't expect from The Inheritors..

Lee Min Ho has played character as matured as Choi Yong Daejang in The Great Doctor who would wager his own life and protect his promise for his king and his woman, Yoo Eun Soo. Choi Young is a bodyguard to King Gongmin of the Goryeo Dynasty and has no regrets in life, no ambition for women or money, and whose hobby is sleeping.

Because he lives a life of no regret and gave up on love to be an unflinching warrior, he's not afraid of death. He is the brave captain of the Woodalchi warriors and loyal to the king. Choi Young believes that people who do not fear death need not spin their wheels scheming, so he takes that to the extreme — he's a warrior with a brain who has the ability to strategize and attack head-on.

Likewise in The Inheritors, the plot and Kim tan's character is not as heavy as Choi Yong. The peak of the drama I guess would be around the love triangle and sibling rivalry in The Inheritors and how young Kim Tan matured to be a real man in order to win over Kim Won...

The kiss scene...as mentioned in my past post..I personally do not like way Park Shin Hye kiss at all in all her dramas. It's emotionless!!..Whereas as we know, our prince Min Ho is such a good kisser, even Son Ye Jin acknowledged Min Ho as a good kisser in Personal Taste and the bulb kiss in City Hunter as well. Owh!! such a pervert me!!

What a waste if the kiss scene in The Inheritors would be somekind like below..ouch!!

The Flower Four (F4)..As in Boys Over Flowers, The Inheritors also gathers all the Go Mi Nam guys such as Lee Min Ho, Kim Woo Bin, Kang Min Hyuk, Park Hyung Shik and Kang Ha Neul to name a few.

In Boys Over Flowers, F4 is gang of rich kids headed by the rough and fearless Jun Pyo.

However, the relationship between all the lead guys in The Inheritors is yet to be discovered. Other than the love rival between Min Ho and Woo Bin..Kang Min Hyuk as Yoon Chan-young, Son of the Empire Group's secretary. Cha Eun-sang's best friend who falls in love with Kim Tan's ex-girlfriend, Lee Bo-na.

As for now..this is what I think what we can expect and what not from this new drama...as a conclusion, although the main story plot would be the same as Boys Over Flowers, as a K Drama fan we want to see something new in Heirs, not the same lame love turbulence between the rich and poor..perhaps they should stress on the sibling rivalry in my opinion..
